Overview

PTE Academic is designed to test your English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Since November 2021 PTE test duration reduced from three hours to two hours. The Number of test items was reduced from 70 – 82 to 52 – 64 without any changes in the overall test format.

PTE Test Format

PART 1: SPEAKING & WRITING

  • Personal introduction

  • Read aloud

  • Repeat sentence

  • Describe image

  • Re-tell lecture

  • Answer short question

  • Summarize written text (one sentence)

  • Essay (20mins)

PART 2: READING

  • Multiple choice questions Single Answer (1-2 questions)

  • Multiple Choice Multiple Answers (1-2 questions)

  • Re-order paragraphs (2 – 3 questions)

  • Fill in the blanks (4 – 5 questions)

  • Reading & Writing Fill in the Blanks (4-5 questions)

PART 3: LISTENING

  • Summarize spoken text

  • Multiple choice Multiple answers

  • Fill the blanks

  • Highlight correct summary

  • Multiple choice single answer

Which countries accept PTE?

PTE scores are accepted by a large number of countries for university admission and immigration purposes. PTE scores specifically help with applications to countries like Australia, USA, UK, Ireland, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand and more. In addition to academic and professional requirements, PTE scores may also be used to obtain permanent residence in Australia and New Zealand for foreigners.
